End of Week 128 – The Expected Stall…

Held my own; didn’t gain but didn’t lose either.  Not a surprise, as I stated a couple of weeks ago.

I did not miss any workouts, and I tried to eat correctly.  I will continue this effort this coming week.  Eventually, it will work.

So, the Republicans have control of the Senate (barely).  I might be concerned if I thought they had the kind of majority that indicates a public mandate, but that is clearly not the case.  It is the slimmest of margins.  Not nearly enough to override vetoes.  And it doesn’t really matter as far as my life is concerned.  They’ve already hurt me, and nothing they can do will help me.  I’m one of those people who simply does not trust the federal government at all, but especially not Congress and within that especially not the Republicans.  The Republicans’ main problem, as far as I am concerned, is that they have to deal with the Tea Party faction.  I’m not all that sold on the Democrats either, but the Tea Party gives me a negative physical reaction.  The winners in all this are the late night shows like The Daily Show.  They are assured tons of material!

On a more positive note, I’ve been enjoying the fall colors both in my own area and through the pictures posted by my cousin Sandi.  The temperature is dropping and we are supposed to have an early visit from the Polar Vortex.  I keep expecting to see a new SyFy movie named after it. LOL!

I have said before that I am old enough to remember what happened to our Vietnam vets when they came home decades ago. I was never the person who blamed them for the unjust conflict and never treated anyone badly. However, I am really tired of having the current “honor the military/veterans” sentiment shoved down my throat every day through all types of media.  I know what it is.  The USA is still working through its national guilt trip over what happened to every group of veterans after those from WWII.

That being said, Tuesday is Veterans’ Day – one of the days I feel the constant barrage is appropriate (along with Memorial Day and Independence Day).  I truly wish all our military and veterans the best and hope they all get to observe the day the way they want to.

Until next week….
