I didn’t lose, but I didn’t gain, and I’m fine with that considering everything that has been happening the past week.
Last weekend was the surprise party for my son’s birthday, given by his girlfriend but at our house. It was a great success. The food was wonderful and the extra was left with us. When I think how I have eaten the past week, I am very grateful that I did not gain weight.
My husband is facing open heart surgery, but we don’t know when. I went to the cardiologist and the cardiac surgeon with him. He is getting two more tests and we are facing another appointment with the surgeon on the 16th. He is frightened (who wouldn’t be??) and I am really feeling the stress. I’m having to be very careful not to let the stress transition into overeating. So far, so good.
At work, my diet buddies and I are getting into renewal season and trying to implement a new licensing system for some of the companies we regulate. One of my staff members is retiring (not a diet buddy, thank goodness!), and there is a good chance I will be losing another to a different job soon (also not a diet buddy). It is annual review time, so I have to review eight employees. Lots of paperwork. I hate personnel work! More stress.
But there is also good news (in addition to the birthday party). My son has an interview for a job he really wants in a couple of weeks, and it is in his field of study. Today we went to his college and bought his first textbook for his Masters program. Finally, it is Labor Day weekend and I have four days at home. I am trying to relax a little. Trying to gear up my mind for more exercise and better food. Trying to start writing again. C’est la vie.
