End of Week 29 – Holding My Own…

Report: Weigh-in date, Friday, December 7, 2012.  Weight, 267.  No change.  Total lost to date, 33 pounds.  Still managing to avoid damage.

I think after this weekend I’ll be able to concentrate on breaking this plateau I’ve reached.  My shopping should be done and my schedule should go back to normal.  I really hate trying to lose weight during the holidays, which is why I am not too worried as long as I don’t start to gain.  My last hurdle will be this week when I make Oatmeal Scotchies for the office party.  I love those things.

I’m going to put some effort into getting more physical activity.  Currently, I go to the gym before work and in the late morning Monday through Thursday and just in the early morning on Friday.  At the beginning of 2012 I promised myself (call it a resolution if you like) I would climb the stairs at work at least once each day I was there, and I have kept that promise.  I have progressed from taking the stairs between floors 2 and 3 to taking the stairs from the basement to the 3rd floor.  On days when my knee doesn’t bother me I’ve done it more than once.

So, how to increase my activity?  I really don’t want to go to the gym after work, mainly because that’s when it is really crowded.  I’d like to walk, but it is getting dark when I leave the office, not to mention cold.  I may have to make myself brave the crowds at the gym and walk on the treadmill.  I’d like to do something besides the elliptical, which I already do twice each day during the workweek.

I probably should try to get some planned exercise on the weekends, but I spend that time catching up on things I can’t get done during the week like shopping, writing, a little cleaning, reading, spending time with my son, etc.  I try to do things where I walk around, can take stairs, and stuff like that.

Oh, well.  I’ll think of something, try it next week, and report on it in the next post.  Today I have to finish my Christmas shopping.  We must have our priorities!
